List Of West Bengal Districts: West Bengal is a state in eastern India, between the Himalayas and the Bay of Bengal. The state, West Bengal is the capital of Kolkata. West Bengal is the fourth most populous state in India. In 1947, when India gained independence, the state of West Bengal was formed out of the 14 districts of the British Indian province of Bengal as part of a plan to divide it.
On 26 January 1950, the erstwhile native state of Cooch Behar was incorporated into West Bengal as a district. In 1954 AD the erstwhile French colony was incorporated as a part of Hooghly district of Chandannagar state. According to the State Reorganization Act of 1956, Purulia district was annexed to Bengal and another part of Bihar was annexed to West Dinajpur.

West Bengal New District
Currently, West Bengal consists of 23 districts. The current Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, is going to announce 7 new districts, they are Bishnupur, Baharampur-Jangipur, Kandi, Sundarbans, Ranaghat, Ichhamati District and Basirhat Subdivision District (the name of this district has not been finalised.) The number of districts in the state will increase to 30. Today in this post we will share with you a complete list of West Bengal districts.
